The Philippines meat processing industry will sustain its growth rate this year despite economic slowdown on account of more investment by companies in expansion of their operations.
According to the Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (PAMPI), the Philippines meat processing industry will continue to grow this year (2009) as companies pour in more money into the industry to expand their operations, as reported by MB.COM.
While inaugurating CDO Foodsphere Inc.'s new plant in Batangas, PAMPI has said that the positive outlook for the industry is primarily based on the high quality of products produced by the domestic companies to compete with other countries' industries and the meat processing industry commitment to continue rolling on growth path.
The inauguration of new plant of CDO Foodsphere Inc. in Batangas is the manifestation that industry will remain steadfast even in tough economic conditions that have hit hard other sectors of the economy, said PAMPI. The new plant has capacity of producing 150,000 kilos of different processed meat products per day.
With the population growth at 2.3% per annum that will increase the Philippians population from the current 80 Million to 152 Million in the next twenty years, the demand for meat will certainly grow which in turn spur the meat volumes in the country.
