Czech's food industry sales grew by 1.5% year-on-year and reached US$ 10.67 Billion (Kc229 Billion) in the year 2006, as per the data from the Agricultural Ministry of Czech Republic and published in the Financninoviny.
Although, there are not many advancements in the food industry of the Czech Republic, the country's interest in food market development and the increasing investment led by its membership in the European Union (EU) is positively helping to stimulate massive growth in sector.
This strong growth has resulted due to tough competition among the international and domestic food producers, as the trade restrictions were removed, since the entry of Czech Republic in the EU (European Union). The most important reason for this development is the demand of food products from the consumers. However, increased international imports have predominantly been successful in satisfying the increasing demand.
'Consumers' interest in Czech Republic's food industry is increasing. This increased interest in consumers has motivated the domestic and international food producers to broaden the supply of food products in the country. Crucial domestic organic farming tasks are there, which would help in strengthening and expanding the Czech food market.
Creating land area, enterprise structure, organic farms, and working for the overall market development are among those tasks, which help both domestic and global players to explore the opportunities of food industry. Although, the most important point in maintaining the growth of the food market in Czech Republic is that consumer interest increases and the production system improves further.
"We need to strengthen the position of domestic food products on the Czech market in competition with growing imports. The growth could also be pulled by exports," said the president of Food Chamber, Jaroslav Camplik.
The food industry in Czech Republic is also watched over by the country's Federation of the Food and Drink Industries that represents the industry at both European and national level. This representation suggests that the Czech food industry has a powerful independent voice.
